....and by tomorrow I mean two months later...
hey, better than every 2years. making major progress. im a ball of positivity.
something good that happened? got me excited.
well... im sitting here at starbucks shortly after the tire of my bike exploded. we rode our bikes here when i noticed something funky. i had ridden for about 2 miles or more already, stopped to take a look, fiddled with the tire a bit, noticed that it is bulging out and then all of a sudden BAM!! explodes! its only after Jae remarked that if that would have happened while riding the bike I would be in big trouble did it really sink in. wow, i was tremendously lucky. that was a big save. so yeah, that was good. not dying was good.
something bad, or hard?
NICU has been a pretty good month, i feel somewhat comfortable, working with a good team. im sometimes worried i don't put enough effort in the minutiae or the stuff that i dont consider that important... that maybe is kind of important. like doing a physical exam on every one of these kiddos every day and calling parents every day even when nothing changes. it seems so useless. i need to suck it up and do it.
something that i learned today
well, i learned about fetal vs neonatal circulation and how important pulmonary hypertension is in management of cyanotic heart disease. as long as there is pulmonary hypertension then blood coming out of R heart will preferentially go through ductus arteriosus to the aorta. i learned the max saturation of fetal blood is about 55%. and as i am learning over and over again i am very good at anticipating and understanding the perspective of those around me... even sometimes those in very different socioeconomic backgrounds! thank you jae for reminding me!
